Adi Shakti

Offering The World's Finest Kirpans

Sat Nam and hello,

For decades Sikhs all over the world have requested me to make a handsome and practical kirpan they could be proud to own and wear that would be affordable - more affordable than what's in the 'Gallery' on this website. We have worked diligently over almost 3 years now, to design kirpans we believe to be among the finest ever created. These are being entirely handmade to precise tolerances, using the choicest materials available, by a very respected and in high-demand manufacturer. We have them in stock and you can pay for one or several for yourself and/or your loved ones now.

The 6 inch/15.2cm blade (11.75 inch/29.8cm overall length including handle) Original Artisan-made Kirpans are shipping in maroon (original color) ivory* and black micarta. We have the smaller 3 inch/7.6cm blade (5.75 inch/14.6cm overall length including handle) Compact Kirpans with a slightly different handle design than the Original in stock in all 3 colors now. (Brown, black and ivory micarta* - Compact Kirpans are pictured with the Original Kirpan here to the left.)

Materials & Production

Blade length is 6 inches (15.24cm) for the "Original" kirpans or 3 inches (7.62cm) for the "Compact" kirpans. Blades are ground from Swedish made Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, China made 3Cr13 stainless steel or China made 8CR13MOV stainless steel.

Sarb Loh

At the time of Guru Gobind Singh "Sarb Loh" was the best blade material available for a kirpan that might see duty on the battlefield. Today with modern technologies utilized in steel production, we have better edge holding, ductility (toughness; won't break) and stain resistant options. These qualities serve in our excellent blade steel choices for these kirpans.

* - Different than the black, maroon and brown micartas we use, ivory is not available in linen or canvas, and comes in "paper" based material. This is a very handsome handle/sheath material (akin to real ivory in appearance) yet may be more susceptible to chipping or cracking upon forceful impact with very hard surfaces (concrete, stone, metal, etc.) As with all of our kirpans, such damage is not covered under our existing warranty, but in many cases repairs can be made through or by Khalsa Kirpans at extra cost. Over the years, ivory micarta may also yellow some - a phenomenon not uncommon with contemporary and ancient "tusk" ivories.
